Cordoba is one the most famous historic cities in Spain and is simply bursting with historic buildings and monuments, La Mezquita, Synagogue, the Calahorra tower, the Alcazar (palace/fort) of the "Reyes Cristianos" (Christian kings), to name just a few. In the old Jewish quarter and historic heart of Cordoba you can soak up the atmosphere of history and enjoy the "tapas" and wines typical of the region in countless wonderful little bars. The city of Cordoba is on the UNESCO World Heritage list.
People don't usually visit Cordoba other than to wander around its ageless old streets and try to absorb the mystery and magic of this incredible city. However, if you have time most activities are near at hand. The nearby town and palaces of Medina-al-Zahara are not to be missed.
