Well-known resort (24,000 inhabitants) in the eastern part of the region. Locally: supermarket, shops, restaurant, bar, disco, evening entertainment. Altea 10 kms., Benidorm 20 kms., Jávea 30 kms. Calpe is 115 kms. SE of Valencia, and 60 kms. NE of Alicante. Interesting places to visit include the roman villa, San Salvador's hermitage, an Arab castle and Peñón de Ifach.
Calpe offers plenty of sandy beaches and bathing bays, and sports harbour / marina.. Diving, sailing and surfing are amongst a few of the water sports available in the area in addition to tennis and other sports. The Terra Mítica , Festilandia and Mundo Mar amusement parks are 20 kms. distant in Benidorm. Calpe is famous for the way it celebrates the Moors and Christians feasts.
